The STG team was fortunate enough to be able attend this year’s annual Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks Conference right in our home town of Lansing. The Radisson Hotel and Lansing Center were excellent venues for the event this year and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
The president of MAMC Joe Bridgman as well as the rest of the Board of Directors put on a fantastic conference full of great food, excellent speakers, and very informative education sessions. The whole conference was wrapped around a fun and entertaining western theme (hence the name of the event, MAMC Capital Stampede.)

Some of the conference events included a traditional 9-hole golf scramble, a 5K Run and Walk through beautiful downtown Lansing, and two wonderful guest speakers. The vendors were able to attend the first presentation by LaDonna Gatlin, and we’re glad we did! A professional speaker, singer, and author, LaDonna grew up performing alongside her brothers, the legendary Gatlin Brothers. Her speech entitled “Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh!” shared with us a powerful story about success and redefining your life mixed in with empowering songs that she performs throughout her speech. LaDonna had the entire crowd laughing from beginning to end and I’m sure her positive message will stick with all of us for many years to come.

Our time at the conference allowed us to gain an even better understanding of the important work clerks do for their communities. It was great to catch up with many of the attendees that we’ve met before, and we were thrilled to meet new clerks serving their communities so well. We’re already looking forward to next year!
